Of Smoke and Ash
Bulgarian artist, Elena Peteva, who lives and works in the United States, presents her new solo exhibition “Of Smoke and Ash” in Sofia.
Тhe presented body of work explores personal and global themes through allegorical representation. The image functions as a signifier that creates a delicate net of subtle meanings. Peteva seeks a distilled representation, an impossible stillness that captures the ephemeral essence of “now”, the memory of the past and the sense of what is to come, and creates a deeper reality.
The exhibition includes charcoal drawings, mixed media collages and video installation.
